AHA Affiliated Society

The American Jewish Historical Society was founded in 1892 to collect, preserve, catalog, exhibit, publish, and otherwise disseminate information relating to the American Jewish experience. It does so through the society’s publications, research collections, conferences, and exhibits.

A. Collections and Libraries

AJHS holds over 1,500 collections related to the American Jewish experience, from the colonial period to the present. The society serves as a major archival resource for a number of national American Jewish organizations of the past and present.

B. Programs

The society sponsors a variety of conferences, lectures and exhibitions.

C. Publications

AJHS publishes the scholarly quarterly journal American Jewish History.

D. Fellowships and Awards

AJHS offers the Ruth B. Fein Prize, a graduate student travel stipend; the Sid and Ruth Lapidus Fellowship for use of AJHS's colonial collections; and the Saul Veiner Book Prize.
